Spoon Thief

(blog worthy camp stuff)

At camp we have something called 'The Gossip" and we all bang on the tables and say, "we want the gossip, we want the gossip!" The girls absolutly love it because we talk about 'boy friend joey' and 'boyfriend greg' and the donky floating away if it had rained, and loads of other funny things. This week though I've made the gossip for the first time all summer. It's been said that I've been stealing spoons around the dining hall so everyone should watch out for me. Of course I couldn't let the gossip down so I did start stealing spoons. I was very sneaky about it. Quickly things progressed though and a spoon protection program was made, they have a song and everything. Also I decided at the end of the meal to steal the spoon bucket - with all the dirty spoons in it. So they finally arrested me and put me into jail. I made bail of 3 spoons and a fork and am waiting my Wednesday trail where Judge Gerorgia will rule.

Switch has been made my authorny, and she is working with Elizabeth who is now know as bob on my case. I've taken the identity of Elizabeth Marie who is going into the fifth grade and loves math as to avoid any more questions and battery from the people. The girls have been eating it up - they really love it. There is a distinct, spoons innocent group and spoon's guilty group. We do have so fence post sitters, but not many. All the girls every want to talk about is if I really stole the spoons or not. I simply say no comment. They then say we saw you steal the spoon bucket and my response is that once you discard an object it becomes public interest. Just like trash, the spoons in the spoon bucket were public property therefore I was allowed to take them at any time.

Some people think that I have motives to my spoon theft, such as building an evil robot. But this isn't true, I simply feel that I have the right and duty to accumulate spoons that have been discarded and abandoned. I've worked really hard on my case, but there are eye witnessed who have seen me stealing spoons so that may be hard to swing. Teehe - it's a lot of fun

We have a wild west unit this week as one of the specialties, so they have built a jail and they have handcuffs for me and they made wanted signs. It's all a huge deal and it's only Tuesday. But it is also really funny.

I will let you know how the trial goes on Wednesday.

my mom clock

Maybe someday I will have the desire - time and energy for a real post all on the same day. Until then let me tell you in brief about my 'mom-clock'

Because I am responsible for girls during the week I've started waking up even before my alarm goes off because I am scared that it's not on or that I am going to oversleep it. I've lovely called this my mom clock because I feel that mothers worry about their children and thus wake up because of it.

This morning I didn't have a cabin full of girls and I still woke up at 6.30 sharp to look at my clock and see if it was time to get out of bed yet.

Funny that.
Funny camp.

Camp Food

Tomahawk serves it's dinners family style, meaning the counselors get the food place it on the table and everyone serves themselves from communal dishes. Under I have added pictures of one days worth of meals at Tomahawk.
This was breakfast. Hard boiled eggs with toast and tomatoes. Hashbrowns, bananas, cereals, milk, bacon (veggie option also available)

Smoggy was really excited about the chicken salad at lunch! we also had broccoli cheese soup oranges. Lunch is the only meal at Tomahawk served with dessert, but we do have night time snacks that are cooked over the camp fire.

Dinner was rustic potatoes and chill. Like always there were meat and vegetarian options because the kitchen works really well with dietary restrictions and allergies.

Trail Work

This morning three councilors and myself decided to wake up and hike the middle length trail we have here at Tomahawk ranch. We set off just after 10 am with the idea that we would hike up at a really slow pace and do some trail marking. The trails here at Tomahawk are all over marked or completely bare. It's an issue that some of us are really concerned about fixing.

So we hiked for about an hour of the trail and did a lot of spraying markers with a really bright orange and taking down the markers that didn't make sense anymore or were too old to be useful.

The pictures here are the view from the first rock - we didn't make it to the top of the trail and to the second rock because a storm was starting to come in and we didn't want to get stuck in any rain and lightning.

So with the thunder warning us we made our way back down and sprayed all the down markers as well. All in all, it was a productive hike and I learned I'm not as out of shape as i thought I was going to be. Now the rain is done again and I can continue my lazy Saturday.

Tomorrow starts staff training 8am until 10pm

Day 1 - Tomahawk

Last year at camp:
I made my own toothpaste
used salt stone deodorant
had really short hair
I only drank out of glass

This year at camp:
I use Toms of Maines vegan toothpaste
I make my own deodorant - because salt stone is too cold
I have moderately short hair
I use ‘real’ water bottles now

I am still the resident Hippy
Let the summer begin!
